Business Development Manager

Colchester, Essex
8am-5pm, Monday to Friday

Main Duties:

  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business;
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network;
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organisation;
  • Research and build relationships with new clients;
  • Plan approaches and pitches;
  • Work with team to develop proposals that speak to the clients' needs, concerns, and objectives;
  • Participate in pricing the solution/service;
  • Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately;
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients by presenting new products and services and enhancing existing relationships;
  • Business Development Planning;
  • Attend industry functions, such as networking events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends;
  • Present to and consult with Directors on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels;
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales;
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and support the development of the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators;
  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate;
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM;
  • Ensure and manage a robust sales pipeline of opportunities;
  • Present business development training and mentoring to our consultants, school improvement partners and internal staff.


Skills & Qualifications: 

  • At least 3 years' sales/business development experience, within the Education Sector;
  • Understanding/experience of the education marketplace;
  • Bachelor degree;
  • Excellent salesperson;
  • Good public speaker;
  • Highly organised;
  • People-focused and target-driven.
