About this course

Teaching Modern Foreign Language in Primary Schools is an inspiring and informative one-day course that will assist you in meeting the targets of the Programme of Study for Languages.

This course is suitable for anyone involved in the teaching and coordinating/leading of MFL in Key Stage 2. Whether you are just embarking on implementing foreign language teaching or you have already made a start, you will return to the classroom with engaging, interactive and challenging activities to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You will also have the opportunity to complete a self-audit tool for identifying the next steps in language teaching in your school as well as discover a tried-and-tested teacher assessment method.

You will feel equipped to disseminate resources and strategies to all colleagues, enabling them to implement these ideas effectively. This course will be sure to have a big impact on the delivery and organisation of foreign language learning throughout your school. 

  • Become familiar with the Key Stage 2 Programme of Study Language objectives

  • Return to the classroom with engaging, interactive and challenging activities to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills (examples in French but adaptable for most languages)

About the trainer

Sue Cave is an experienced specialist Primary Language teacher and trainer. She is the author of two resource books, ‘100+ Fun Ideas for Practising Modern Foreign Languages in the Primary Classroom’ and ‘More Fun Ideas for Advancing Modern Foreign Languages in the Primary Classroom’, as well as co-author of the award winning resource book, ‘Physical French Phonics’.
