About this workshop

Use the lessons learned from this year’s Maths SATs to introduce new approaches that will better-prepare your pupils for next year’s paper.

This half-day, workshop-style course will enable you to reflect on your school’s/pupils’ experience of the 2019 KS2 Maths SATs papers and explore activities, approaches and top tips to overcome any specific issues.

Bring your own thoughts and ideas about how your pupils responded to this year’s assessment. In this highly effective and practical workshop, you will discuss problem areas in order to establish ways to address potential barriers to success. Any gaps will be plugged, any positive areas will be polished and you will leave safe in the knowledge that you are fully equipped to answer any questions about:

  • Your pupils’ performance
  • Addressing Maths subject-specific vocabulary
  • How to move forward
  • Next year’s plan of action!

  • Practical tips and ideas to support you in developing your pupils’ mathematical fluency and reasoning skills
  • Consider the vocabulary expectations of the National Curriculum and how to develop your pupils’ understanding and ability to apply mathematical vocabulary
  • Explore mastery of maths as a concept and how it has appeared in this year’s SATs
  • Discuss common messages and question types from across the three papers, looking at how we can help prepare our pupils to decode questioning language

You will also receive a comprehensive breakdown document, analysing the different question types within the 2019 KS2 Maths SATs papers.
