About this workshop

Use the lessons learned from this year’s Reading SAT paper to address the key barriers to children's success and develop the important skills all of your children need for next year and beyond.

This half-day, workshop-style course will enable you to gain a deeper understanding of your school’s/pupils’ experience of the 2018 Reading SATs papers and explore tips and ideas to overcome any specific issues.

Bring your own thoughts and ideas about how your pupils responded to this year’s assessment. In this highly effective and practical workshop, you will discuss problem areas in order to establish ways to address potential barriers to success.

Discover a range of effective activities and approaches to use in your school to develop the skills pupils need for next year. These will help any gaps to be plugged, any positive areas to be polished and will help you leave safe in the knowledge that you are fully equipped to answer any questions about:

  • Your pupils’ performance
  • Addressing Reading subject-specific vocabulary
  • How to move forward
  • An action plan for next year’s SATs

  • Consider and analyse the question types in the 2018 SATs paper
  • Discover practical, attainment-enhancing games and activities to take away and implement immediately across the school, to help your pupils effectively apply their knowledge
  • Increase your understanding of how reading comprehension and word reading expectations of the National Curriculum can translate into everyday practice - simply and effectively
  • Your trainer can help you review your initial thoughts about likely pupil outcomes and share some tips on how to feed these back to SLT, governors and parents

You will also receive a comprehensive breakdown document, analysing the different question types within the 2018 Reading SAT paper.
