About this course

This one-day CPD course has been specifically created for subject and middle leaders across EYFS,  KS1 or KS2. It will introduce you to a range of effective strategies, approaches and knowledge that will help you to excel in this important role.

The course objectives include the following:

  • To be prepared to present progress and impact effectively to Ofsted/ISI and to your Headteachers/Governors.
  • To understand the key roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of middle leaders and relate these to the latest frameworks and teaching standards.
  • To explore how to monitoring can be carried out in the most effective way e.g. planning scrutiny, work sampling, learning walks, pupil interviews and lesson observations.
  • To be able to carry out a skills audit, needs analysis and prepare/monitor a budget for your subject or team/phase.
  • To know how to complete a section for a School’s Improvement Plan, for your subject or team/phase.
  • To consider how to create an effective action plan that will drive progress in your subject or phase and take the first steps to achieving this.
  • To practise providing constructive feedback and explore how to motivate and inspire those around you.
