Situation

In February 2014, Rise Park Junior School was placed into a category of ‘Special Measures’ by Ofsted. Our key actions for improvement were as follows:

  • Improve the quality of teaching so that it is at least good
  • Support the acceleration of pupils’ progress in writing and mathematics
  • Develop leadership and management at all levels

A Customised Solution

The programme, which provided training and support for all levels of leadership, class teachers and teaching assistants, included consultancy days, twilights, parent workshops, demonstration lessons, Shakespeare workshops and a visit to two Centre of Excellence schools. Each session provided staff with a range of practical ideas and materials to implement within the classroom. Main areas of support included:

  • Writing
  • Middle leadership
  • Assessment and analysis
  • Medium & long-term planning
