Could you tell me a bit about yourself and what motivates you?

I am passionate about education and improving outcomes for children and young people. Teaching is a true vocation for me. I have loved my 20 years in the profession. I am a highly experienced outstanding school leader and teacher. I am motivated by the inspiring pupils I work with and seeing them make progress academically as well as socially and emotionally. I love working alongside colleagues who share my passion to make a real difference to the lives of the children we have the privilege to work with every day.

What is your educational experience and key qualifications?

I completed a 4-year BEd with a specialism in Advanced Study of Early Years. I have taught in both mainstream and special settings in all Key Stages (Early Years, Key stage 1 and Key Stage 2). I have successfully led a number of curriculum subjects including, English, ICT, Science, MFL, PE and RE.  I have held several senior leadership roles including Assistant and Deputy Headteacher. My most recent substantive post was Headteacher of a primary special school in Lancashire. I was designated as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) in the areas of SEND, Behaviour and Phonics. I have completed additional qualifications Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and I have successfully achieved NPQH.

What is your educational specialism?

I have had a diverse teaching career which I am extremely proud of and therefore have developed a range of specialisms. My specialisms include:

  • SEND
  • Behaviour
  • English (including Phonics)
  • Early Years
  • Leadership and Management
  • School Improvement

What do you enjoy most about working in education?

It must be the wonderful pupils! Being a part of the children’s lives and seeing they grow in all aspects gives me an overwhelming sense of pride. Additionally, no two days are the same in schools which I find exhilarating! Finally, education and pedagogy are continually evolving and developing and we as teaching professionals continue to learn year on year if not day to day!

What do you like doing outside of work?

I love spending time with my young family, especially outdoors! I enjoy eating out, visiting friends and going to the theatre.
