Could you tell me a bit about yourself and what motivates you?

I am an experienced consultant, passionate about ensuring children have the best life chances. I enjoy supporting schools to make this happen through delivering training and working with teachers and school leaders. My motivation comes from wanting children to receive the best teaching tailored to their needs, delivered in a fun and creative way, so they can become enthusiastic learners. I am always looking for opportunities to develop my own knowledge and experience in order to provide optimum support to schools.

What is your educational experience?

I have a range of teaching experience in primary, middle and secondary schools, most of which were in challenging circumstances. I was Lead Education Consultant for a large local authority, focussing on school improvement, effective use of the Pupil Premium and leading the One-to-One Tuition programme. I am a Nationally Accredited Local consultant for improvement (LCI) in primary management systems and have the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

What is your educational specialism?

My main specialisms are Pupil Premium and Literacy. I support schools to ensure the Pupil Premium funding is having effective impact, through reviewing current practice, giving advice and training. Aspects of Literacy in which I specialise include developing quality reading and writing, visual literacy, and effective subject leadership.

What do you like doing outside of work?

I love being creative and design and make jewellery, as well as watercolour painting and a range of handicrafts. I also enjoy singing in my local choir and keep fit with my weekly Zumba sessions. Occasionally I manage to persuade my local amateur dramatic society to give me a small part but they mainly like to keep me behind the scenes as stage manager!
