David Maytham

Managing Director

  • Experienced consultant and outstanding school improver
  • Responsible for developing innovative new ideas to help schools and teachers improve the quality of children's education

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and what motivates you?

My role at TT Education is twofold: I am the Managing Director and I am a consultant. I first set up TT Education in 2012 (with the help of my good friend and business partner, Graham Keene), because I strongly believe that every child has a right to a good education. Prior to starting TT Education, I had been doing some training in my local area, but I wanted to help more teachers on a wider scale and to seize the opportunity to continually strive to find approaches and develop products which promote learning and make a quantifiable difference in the classroom. What motivates me is knowing how important - how completely life-changing - a good education can be, and knowing that, at TT Education, we have a team of experts who can give anyone the tools to provide that good education to children. Bringing those tools to the widest audience we possibly can - that's my motivation.

What is your educational experience?

I am a former fast track teacher, education expert and school leader with a proven track record of supporting schools in delivering outstanding results. I was the Lead Writing Teacher at the first Writing Demonstration School in the country and have worked on research projects on behalf of the Department for Education. In 2012, I founded TT Education and I now spend my time working with schools across the UK and internationally to raise standards. I run training days, INSET days and national projects, as well as leading a highly creative team of teachers and other educational professionals to develop exciting and innovative educational resources for schools.

What is your educational specialism?

My specialism is whole-school change. If you want the climate in your school to reflect the positive and outstanding vision you have for it, I will help you achieve that. Literacy teaching was my first love, but my Path to Success methodology is applicable across all curriculum areas and I have worked with numerous different subject, phase and senior leaders in my time.

What do you like doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I am Chair of Governors for a local school, which gives me a fascinating perspective on my work. I am also the Chairman of my local cricket club, of which I have been a member since I was a child, as were my father and grandfather before me.

Any time I have spare after that, I spend with my wife and two children!
