Christine Coleman

  • Experienced former primary teacher and senior leader
  • Experienced consultant and trainer

Could you tell me a bit about yourself and what motivates you?

I am an independent consultant delivering training to teachers across my local authority. I aim to support and inspire colleagues to further develop their teaching and provide positive outcomes for all learners. As KS1 moderation manager, I lead a team of STA approved moderators at local level and deliver STA training to colleagues nationally.

What is your educational experience and key qualifications?

I am a former primary teacher and senior leader having taught across the entire primary age range. Throughout the years, I have been Maths Lead, KS1 Lead, SENDCo and Assistant Head.

What is your educational specialism?

I specialise in assessment and mathematics. I am passionate about improving outcomes for all. My involvement in school improvement and my role as Moderation Manager, working with colleagues in other schools across my local authority, has motivated me throughout my career.

I have a particular interest in maths and from my first appointment, as a maths teacher in a high school, through my primary teaching career I have always believed that everyone can enjoy and achieve in maths given the appropriate teaching and encouragement. As maths lead in school and now as a consultant, I strive to help teachers and schools create an environment where there is “a love of maths” and a “can do” mindset - a place where a positive approach to maths empowers pupils and teachers to be the best that they can be.

What do you like doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy walking and pilates classes. I have an interest in textile crafts and am a life-long knitter.
